I'm having trouble finding time to even think about working on this. Mostly because I have so many other commits on my time, and with NaNo around the corner, it's just hard to find the right time.

I'm not certain. I think next month will go easier, because I will only have NaNo and not 9 other projects in the air.

I haven't been able to find as much time as I'd like - mostly because I'm playing catch up w/ everything else that I'm doing. But, I do think on it and what I'd like to do. Like I said, it's just a matter of sitting down and hashing it out.

Can I make a quick suggestion? Would it be possible to have the entry/comment pages set to the default DW style? The comm layout is lovely, but it's hard to read the comments that way.

If you have the navigation strip visible, on the right side click "my style," and it will reload the page in your style. I have mine set to the site layout for entries.

I just discovered that feature and have been using it happily. =Db

... And I too need to sit down and start building worlds. I keep getting distracted by school and life and stuff. =/

Oh yes, I use the link at the top a lot. But I'm not always able to log in (I sometimes check in from work) and it can get annoying then. :p

I've set myself some time aside for the end of the month to get a good bit of world building done. I just hope nothing else comes up before then.

Oh, yeah. I can see why that would be. =|a

I like your idea. After midterms would be a nice time (and reward) to sit down and start building a world.

:p

Yeah, October tends to be a hectic month for me, but in November I have a lot of days off (yay for living in the country with the most holidays in the world \o/) and I plan to take full advantage of them *g*

Lucky you. I've had to use the fact I was fighting bronchitis to work on all this!

Lucky in that I have time off, not so lucky in that I don't get paid for it. Hah.

I am doing NaNo in Nov. I am not sure how much time I'll have, but well, I will try. |D

I'm going to try for that this year as well - hopefully I'll actually do something.

Ah! To set it for the site layout go to:

Organize > Customize Journal Style > Customize Your Theme > Display > Presentation > Basic Options

And uncheck "Show entry pages in my journal style rather than the site layout "

That will make things a lot easier to read. It works for journals, so it should work for communities too. =)

No problem! It's easy to overlook. I know I did a few times when I first started customizing my journal.

Okay, since finishing up my comment earlier, I have had progress. I now have a Solar system.

Thank you! I think the next map I need is the first settlement, but I'm taking a breather.

I'm still feeling a bit daunted with getting my own world(s) set up, so yeah. I love how you put together the solar system though. How'd you come up with the planet sizes and all?

I took all the details I had already written about the world in my head, looked at our solar system, found a star that was similar, and then made judgment calls. ;-)

Haha, I guess that makes sense. In all honesty, I'm still debating if I want to create an entire solar system or not. *ponders*

I kind of need it, for when "GothicVerse" actually becomes the universe for "Starmother" they're a space faring race, and the system Arcadia is in is a ... forbidden/deadly zone to most of humanity.

I am still so intrigued by the bits and pieces you keep sharing :p

With that said - When I think of it like that, I don't actually need a full universe. I'm just indecisive, really.

I don't see it as indecisive at all. I see it as creativity in squalls of logic. :-)

Ahaha, I love that!

It's funny, I've had this story in my head for at least four years now and I never thought about the possibility of a world beyond the immediate city. But when I think about the different things that happen, I need to expand out and create at the very least, a whole planet.

:D I love it too!

Mostly, I'm all excited over my story again. This comm has definitely got me really thinking about it after so long of just shrugging it off and going "meh" whenever it crossed my mind.

Mistresses

[personal profile] lea_hazel 2010-10-08 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
School's starting, so I anticipate little writing time, but what I remain snagged on is references regarding the practice of formal or semi-formal mistresses. My brother dropped a few names, but I haven't pinned down any specific sources on how the relationship between a man and his mistress might play out. I keep thinking letters would be useful, but I'm not sure where to search.

Lovely references don't know if I'll use them for my current story - but helpful indeed.

You probably noticed this, but I have been a bit slow with this just now. I have ideas in my head written down and what I plan to do, but with my japanese course starting last week, I have my main focus on other things.

I guess october is just a busy month for all of us and with NaNo next month, some of us will be busy with that too (I don't plan in participating in NaNo this year but I haven't decided for sure)

Utterly not getting anything done right now, though I am trying. And the comm with all its resources has been really interesting looking, I just. Never seem to have any energy. x.x

Going to try to get something done by the end of the month, at least.
